American Idol

American Idol is under way and four more people were voted off last night. John Park, Jermaine Sellers, Michelle Delamar and Haeley Vaughn were sent home. Now we're down to the top 16 which means Sean and I need to start placing bets to see who we think will win. We both agree that it's probably going to be a female since the guys aren't very strong this year. Here is the list of the top 16:
Crystal Bowersox, 24
Didi Benami, 23
Katelyn Epperly, 24
Lacey Brown, 24
Lilly Scott, 20
Paige Miles, 24
Siobhan Magnus, 20
Aaron Kelly, 16
Alex Lambert, 19
Andrew Garcia, 24
Casey James, 27
Lee Dewyze, 23
Michael Lynche, 26
Todrick Hall, 24
Tim Urban, 20

We've posted a clip of the girls singing the other night. Who do you think will win?

The Marriage Ref

If you watched the Olympics, you would have seen a ton of previews for The Marriage Ref which they aired right after closing ceremonies. Sean and I didn't watch it but it looks very interesting. The show involves real life couples who have been having an on going fight for a long time. A clip is shown to the celebrity panel, showing both sides of the argument. The panel then discuss the merits of each side of the argument and vote on who they think is right. The show is produced by Jerry Seinfeld, who served as a judge along with Kelly Ripa and Alec Baldwin in the first episode. It's going to be on Thursdays and you can catch the next one this week. We've posted a preview of the show below. The show seems very interesting and it could be quite entertaining.

Killer Whale Kills Trainer at Sea World

A Sea World trainer was killed yesterday by a killer whale during a show. The woman, Dawn Brancheau was leisurely rubbing the whale from a platform when he reached up, grabbed her with its mouth and dragged her under water. Workers rushed and tried to save her but it was to late. The whale apparently grabbed Dawn by her ponytail, pulled her under water and then held her under the water. The head of animal training at all Sea World parks, Chuck Tompkins said there was no indication that the whale was having problems earlier in the day. Tompkins also said that no decision has been made about what will happen to the whale. Sea World has also suspended the killer whale shows at all of its parks. Dawn's family said they viewed her death as an unfortunate accident and that the trainer wouldn't want anything done to the whale because she loved the animals like children. Either way it's a really sad story.

Are You Still Watching The Olympics?

We thought we would do an update to see if anyone is still watching the Olympics or to see if you ever started watching them this year. Sean has been watching hockey, curling and some skiing. I've been able to watch skiing and ice dancing which is my favorite sport to watch during the Olympics! Of course with the Olympics comes the endorsement deals for many athletes which is always a plus. We found this article on South Korean figure skater Yu-Na-Kim where her endorsement deal is reversed. She is really popular in Korea and she's under a lot of pressure to win, and if she doesn't then she loses her sponsorship contracts. She is expected to win gold this week and if she doesn't then there will be strong backlash. So far she has made $8 million in endorsements and hopefully it will stay that way. The U.S. is still in the lead with a total of 25 medals, Germany is in second with 21, Norway is in third with 14 medals and Russian Federation has 11 medals, taking fourth place. What's your favorite sport to watch during the Olympics?

Oprah Will Not Have John Mayer On Her Show

Usually when celebrities say or do something stupid, Oprah always lets them come on her show so they can ask for forgiveness. This is not going to be the case for John Mayer, who if you remember has dropped the n word, told bedroom secrets about Jessica Simpson and has talked bad about Jennifer Aniston. Oprah is not allowing him to come on the show because she is really good friends with Jennifer Aniston and says if he wants to apologize for the comments he has made then he should go somewhere else. You know it's a bad day when Oprah doesn't even want you on her show! Oprah does go on to say that the only way she would let him on her show is if he wants to have a deeper conversation about race, women and fame. Maybe John should have kept his mouth shut a long time ago and he wouldn't have gotten himself into this much trouble. What do you think about John Mayer?

2010 Winter Olympics

Opening ceremonies started on Friday in Canada for the Winter Olympics. Sean and I both agree that the ceremony always seems to be really long! We've watched some of the events but not many. What was really sad was the Georgian who died last week while in practice for the Luge. It was a tragedy that no one expected to happen. They ended up delaying practice for a few days until they changed the track. If you haven't seen the video, we posted it below. On a positive note, the U.S. is in the lead with 6 medals total. In second is Germany with 4, France and Canada are tied for third place, each earning 3 medals. Have you been watching?
